Our Founders
Purrfect Diamonds in the Ruff was founded in 2007 by Kathy Bala and her daughter Kendra, two animal lovers with a shared mission to give unwanted and abandoned pets a second chance at life. What began as a small family effort to rescue a few strays in their local community has blossomed into a respected, full-scale animal rescue organization dedicated to providing hope, healing, and homes to those who need them most.
Together, Kathy and Kendra built the foundation of Purrfect Diamonds in the Ruff on compassion, integrity, and the belief that every animal deserves love and dignity. Today, Kendra has taken the reins, continuing her mother's legacy while working side by side with her to guide the organization's operations and outreach.
Their combined leadership ensures that the mission remains deeply personal — a family promise to protect and care for animals in need.
Our Mission
At Purrfect Diamonds in the Ruff, our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need while educating our community about compassion and responsible pet ownership. We see every animal as a "diamond in the ruff" — resilient, deserving, and capable of shining bright once they are given a second chance.
We are committed to providing each rescued animal with medical attention, emotional care, and the opportunity to find a loving forever home. Our organization stands as a testament to what can be achieved when people come together for a common good — one act of kindness at a time.
What We Do
Rescue & Rehabilitation
We provide safe shelter, veterinary care, and recovery for animals rescued from neglect, abuse, and abandonment.
Foster Network
Our dedicated foster families offer temporary homes filled with love and stability while pets await adoption.
Adoption Services
We carefully evaluate adopters and match them with the perfect companion, ensuring lifelong compatibility and happiness.
Community Education
We engage the community through outreach and events that encourage responsible pet ownership, spaying/neutering, and animal welfare awareness.
